Specify the actual material
Weed-control fabric may be woven or non-woven. Mulch film is a film covering. Ask for the construction, material and thickness or GSM of the product being quoted so you are comparing like-for-like options.
Plan around the site
Describe whether the covering will be used on beds, between plants, on walkways or in a nursery. Include the planting layout, water management, access requirements and intended period of use.
Confirm the end of use
Agree how the material will be removed, recovered or disposed of. If a product is described as biodegradable, request the exact grade and the conditions and evidence supporting that claim.
